Zoosk Review 2026: Honest Rating & Expert Verdict

Zoosk's core differentiator is Behavioural Matchmaking — the algorithm tracks your interactions (likes, messages, profile views, time spent on profiles) and uses this data to refine the matches it serves you. The more you use Zoosk, the better it becomes at predicting who you will find attractive. This is conceptually different from eHarmony's questionnaire approach or Hinge's prompt system — Zoosk learns from actions, not declarations.

SmartPick delivers daily curated match suggestions based on your behavioural data and stated preferences. Carousel is a swipe-style browsing feature where you quickly evaluate profiles with yes/no/maybe responses. Search lets you browse members yourself, and its Explore view shows several members at once, nearest first, so you can Like or Pass on each.

Zoosk has discontinued Zoosk Coins, according to its help centre, and converted leftover balances into Boosts. Paid extras now include Boosts (more visibility for a set time), Instant Crush & Undo, and Premium Messaging, an add-on bought with Zoosk+ that lets any member reply to you, including free members. None of these are needed for basic dating.

Verification is an optional selfie check: you turn your head on camera so Zoosk can confirm your photos match you, and verified members get a blue shield badge. Black Cap's safety policy says the check does not confirm identity, age or criminal history.

Messaging requires Zoosk+. Free users can create a profile, browse, send Likes, use Carousel and see up to 3 SmartPicks a day, but cannot send messages.

Zoosk Coins have been discontinued. Boosts and Instant Crush & Undo are sold separately, and Premium Messaging can be added when you buy Zoosk+. The help centre does not publish prices; they are shown at checkout. All subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled, and Zoosk says purchases, including renewals, are non-refundable.

Given the 2026 change of operator, we suggest the shortest subscription you are comfortable with. The 1-month plan, while more expensive per month, limits your financial exposure.

Zoosk does not publish a current member count in its help centre, which says it is available in the United States, Canada, Australia and US territories. The user base is broad, and the platform is open to all sexual orientations.

Zoosk is no longer an international option. Its help centre says signing in from another country can get an account blocked or flagged as a security precaution, so it does not suit people who travel often or want cross-border connections.

User quality is variable. The free tier attracts casual browsers. Verification badges help, but verification is optional, so many profiles may not be verified.

Zoosk's interface is colourful, feature-rich, and slightly gamified. The Carousel, Likes, Crushes and Boosts create an engaging experience that feels more playful than platforms like eHarmony or Match. For users who enjoy interactive elements, this is a plus; for those seeking a straightforward, no-frills dating experience, it can feel gimmicky.

Profile creation is quick and simple, and much less involved than eHarmony.

The web version is fully functional but feels secondary to the mobile experience. Navigation covers Matches, Search, Carousel, Messages, and Profile. Zoosk Coins, once prominent, have been discontinued.

Zoosk offers optional selfie verification and shows a blue badge on verified profiles. Black Cap's safety policy says it uses automated systems and human review to spot prohibited content and scams, that every profile and message has a Report button, and that it does not run comprehensive criminal background checks.

Because verification is optional and does not confirm identity, trust varies across the user base. Zoosk's data is now covered by Black Cap's privacy policy, last updated 21 July 2026.
